Bar Soap vs Body Wash

Bar Soap vs Body Wash

Bar soap vs body wash, everyone has a favorite and everyone is entitled to their own opinions but for those who might be looking for a breakdown of the true pros and cons... read on!

Let's talk about body wash first...

The Pros:

  • So easy and convenient to use
  • Lots of bubbles which makes bath time just a little more fun!
  • Lots of different varieties (scents, colors, etc)

The Cons:

  • Lots of plastic waste from bottles, pumps, microbeads, etc.
  • Body wash is roughly 70-80% water, you're basically paying a lot for bubbly water
  • Lots of irritants and synthetics/detergents/dyes/preservatives so body wash tends to be a bad option for anyone with sensitive skin.

Now let's chat about bar soap

The Pros:

  • Very little (if any) waste - no plastic bottles or pumps to end up in landfills
  • Better ingredients = less skin irritation and a better end result of glowy, moisturized skin
  • Travel-friendly! No worrying about how many ounces TSA allows through, just pop your bar in a little travel tin or a baggie and you're good to go!

The Cons:

  • You have to store it properly! If you leave it sitting in a puddle of water, your whole bar is eventually going to end up as a mushy mess.

Honestly? I can't think of a second con for bar soap. It's just so darn easy to love between being good for your skin, good for the environment and did I mention good for your skin?

I really could go on and on about this but for today I will keep it short and sweet. But let me know your thoughts, are you team bar soap or body wash?
